Islands of Lake Michigan (exported from NOAA's Medium Resolution Digital Shoreline)
NOAA's Medium Resolution Digital Shoreline is a high quality, GIS-ready, general use digital vector data set created by the Strategic Environmental Assessments Division of NOAA's Office of Ocean Resources, Conservation and Assessment. Compiled from some 270 NOAA Nautical Charts, this single line product comprises over 75,000 nautical miles of coastline, covering the whole of the contiguous United States of America. This particular shapefile covers only the Great Lakes.
Purpose:
Nominal mapping scale is 1:70,000. The product is designed to meet the demanding needs of a broad target audience. Potential subscribers include government agencies, universities and other research institutions, the private sector, and students, as well as any other concern requiring a general purpose digital shoreline layer for GIS and cartographic projects.
